Applying for the Artist in Residence Education Program

To be able to live and work in Bhutan for several months is an opportunity of lifetime. To be able to immerse oneself in the arts and culture and take part in the development of a unique and innovative educational program is a real privilege.

Who can apply

Practicing contemporary artist educators from around the world can apply. They must have a strong track record of success in their field. Experience teaching the arts in Early Childhood and/or Primary Education is also required.

When you can apply

You need to apply at least six months ahead of when you plan to come. The college has two semesters. Semester one runs from the end of February until the end of June. Semester two runs from the end of July until the beginning of December. You can apply at any time but plan to synchronize your residency with either semester.

How you can apply

In addition to a current CV, you need to develop a proposal using the application form, that outlines some of the things you plan to share with the college.

Previous artist in residence Harrie Fasher, expressed her appreciation of her time on the program saying “Paro was transformative. I would never have imagined how important it was going to be, I had an inkling… but the Bhutanese magic is powerful stuff, I am enthralled by the Green Tara.” The following video’s capture Harrie enjoying her time exploring Bhutan and some of her work which culminated in an exhibition at Paro College.
